International Dinner & Silent Auction 2008 The Frankfort Rotary Club's Annual International Dinner & Silent
Auction The Frankfort Rotary Club is holding its annual International Dinner and Silent Auction on Tuesday Feb 19 at the Kentucky History Center. This event is open to the Frankfort community and emphasizes the international aspect of Rotary. Rotary International consists of 32,000 local Rotary clubs in more than 165 different countries. Each year our club invites a speaker who brings an international perspective to our community and focuses either on specific areas of the world, specific world events, and/or specific humanitarian needs in the world community. This year's speaker is Kentucky's own Nick Clooney who will be addressing his work with Darfur in Africa. This is an area that has been repeatedly spotlighted in the nation's news regarding the suffering in the region and the great humanitarian need that exists in this part of the world. As part of this event, the Frankfort Rotary Club holds a Silent Auction. Proceeds of this auction go both to an international charity and to our local Rotary Club scholarship fund. The success of this auction depends upon the generosity of our local merchants and businesses. This years international charity is Doctors Without Borders in Darfur. Half of the auction receipts will go to this international charity and the other half to our club's local scholarship fund. The Frankfort Rotary Club annually offers $8,000 in scholarships to local high school seniors or graduating juniors. Scholarships are based upon student needs and civic activities in addition to academic performance. The Frankfort Rotary Club's Silent Auction affords all of us an excellent opportunity to show our support for both humanitarian needs in our world and for those in our local community who wish to pursue a higher education. All gifts are tax deductible. Please contact Bobbye Brown for tickets or to donate an
item for the silent auction. 502-695-9489
